We have all been told over and over again that we need more exercise if we are to get fit and stay that way. It seems obvious to me that Ms Roberts here has taken that advice to heart. She exercises every day!

100-year-old Blanche Roberts rides her stationary bike five miles a day on the front porch of her Sherrill home.
VERNON — Blanche Roberts rides five miles a day on her stationary bike on her front porch, no matter what the weather. She has two sons, seven grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and was a teacher for 27 years. But none of these accomplishments comes close to the feat she achieved on Oct. 25: turning 100 years old.

Roberts attributes her longevity to a carefully regimented life of regular meals, exercise and sleep. But she’s also sure she has heredity on her side.
“I think the secret in good heath probably lies in good genes,” Roberts said.
She rides five miles on her stationary bike every day. “Zero or below, she’s out there,” her son said.
I have linked the entire article in the title above.
She may be right that good genes could have some part in her longevity, but even with the best genes we will not live to our maximum age without some type of exercise routine. And I don’t mean just once in a while when the weather in right or when we feel like it. We have to take better care of our bodies all of the time.

I know the escalator looks so inviting especially when your arms are full of packages. But please consider the stairs this season, it will burn calories and build muscles. Just look at these folks:
Yes, they had a little motivation but the fact remains that they were getting more exercise and didn’t seem to mind the extra exertion, many were even taking more steps to get to the top or bottom.
