  • LongLife and the New American Standard Bible (NASB) #0011

In the November 1st Post I gave the definition of Righteous and listed a few verses related to Righteousness as it pertains to LongLife.
In the 11th chapter of Proverbs, Solomon encourages us to not only be Righteous but to continually be Righteous if our goal is to “attain to life”.

    Proverbs 11
Contrast the Upright and the Wicked

19 He who is steadfast in righteousness will attain to life,
And he who pursues evil will bring about his own death.

This is not only a difficult task; it is impossible. Only Christ Himself can continually be righteous.
So what are we to do? We must call on the Holy Spirit to help us when we start to falter. He is our strength. We cannot attain righteousness continually all on our own.
Many times I hear people say, “Could you pray for me? I’ve tried everything else and nothing is helping.”
That’s not bad but it is backwards. When we start to falter in any way and realize we are not in Gods will, the FIRST thing we should do is pray to God that the Holy Spirit would help us, not try to fix things that are beyond our ability to fix. That’s not to say that we can not do things for our selves, we all have many abilities to do things that are good and righteous, but when we notice that we are out of God’s will and turning away from righteousness (and we will know because the Laws of God are written on our hearts and knowing those Laws will convict us) it is at that point that we need to stop and pray for the Holy Spirit to help us remain righteous. And with continual righteousness we can attain LongLife.
